Northern Michigan

I am recently returned from a trip to Northern Michigan and the UP. It’s beautiful up there right now and probably for the next couple of weeks if anyone is thinking of going. Last week was a little bit early for peak fall colors, but still gorgeous. The cool weather was great.

I haven’t been to Mackinaw City or Mackinac Island in a good decade and was really surprised at how many hotels are now there. I remember not much being there outside of the little town area when I was little, but we always stayed in a remote campground away from the main street.

To everyone who was trying to get ahold of me during my vacation, thank you for your patience and understanding with my delinquently returned telephone calls and emails. I am now rested and relaxed for a VERY busy October. I have weddings and photo shoots every weekend and some week nights this month. Don’t worry though. If you would like to have fall portraits done, I can still fit you in!

Tip for photography and flowers

Something that is sometimes overlooked when planning the timeline of the day is making certain the flowers are delivered before the photographer is scheduled to take photos. Of course, the pictures will look the best if the flowers are present. I think many times when planning the delivery of the flowers, the concern is that the flowers arrive before the ceremony. However, they really do need to be in the pictures. So, if you are planning formal shots before the ceremony, don’t forget to have the flowers delivered first. Thank you to the lovely wedding planner who made sure to mention that recently at a pre-wedding meeting.

I have a wedding on Saturday and am busy watching the weather. Hurricane Gustov will be heading this way by then and rain is in the forecast. This is good for a couple of reasons. Reason one is that the world needs to be watered so that every shot of the wedding party is not surrounded by dead vegitation. Reason two is that it will be much better to photograph in Saturday’s location with heavy cloud cover since there isn’t much shade. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed for rain up until about 10:30 a.m. and then just a wonderfully overcast day…

Now if I could just figure out how to add photos to this blog of mine…
